Privacy Notice

Last updated: April 16, 2026

At Rides2U (“Rides2U,” “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), we value your trust. When you access Rides2U’s services, you are entrusting us with your Personal Information. We are committed to acting responsibly when we collect, use, and protect your Personal Information. This Privacy Notice is designed to help you understand exactly what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have — clearly and without confusion.

This Privacy Notice applies when you visit our website at www.rides2u.com, download or use the Rides2U mobile application (“App”), or subscribe to or use any of our services. Rides2U’s technology platform facilitates the arrangement of transportation services between drivers and riders across our active markets, which currently include communities in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Tennessee, Mississippi, and other states where Rides2U operates or may expand in the future, connecting community members, students, and families with professional, convenient, and secure transportation.

This Notice applies to:

  • Passengers — individuals who request or receive transportation via their Rides2U account.

  • Drivers — individuals who provide transportation to Passengers individually or through Rides2U partner transportation companies.

  • Account Holders — individuals or entities with an active Rides2U account, including partner universities and businesses.

  • Guest Users — individuals who receive ride services ordered by other Rides2U Account Holders.

All of the above may be referred to as “Users” or “you” throughout this Notice. By accessing and using our Services, you consent to the collection, storage, use, and disclosure of your Personal Information as described here. The Services are intended for users located in the United States only.

1. Types of Data We Collect

We collect Non-Personal Information (data that cannot be used to personally identify you, such as anonymous usage data, general demographics, and aggregate statistics) and Personal Information (data that identifies or could identify you, such as your name, address, phone number, or email address).

CONTEXT TYPES OF DATA WE MAY PROCESS PRIMARY PURPOSE
Website Visitor Information First and last name, email address, and any information included in messages sent to us. Please do not include sensitive information in contact messages. Legitimate interest in contacting and communicating with customers regarding our Services.
Passenger Account Information

First and last name, date of birth, mailing address, phone number, and email address. Payment information is collected directly by our processor, Stripe. The Driver will only have access to the Passenger's phone number until the ride is completed.

WHY PHONE NUMBER IS REQUIRED: A phone number is necessary for the core functionality of the Rides2U platform and cannot be made optional. It is used to: (1) verify your identity at account creation to prevent fraudulent accounts; (2) enable Driver-Passenger coordination for pickup, which is the primary function of the app; (3) deliver SMS trip notifications, booking confirmations, and real-time status updates; and (4) support emergency contact by law enforcement or safety personnel if an incident occurs during a trip. Without a verified phone number, the core ride-booking service cannot be safely or reliably provided.

Required for core app functionality and safety. A verified phone number is essential to identity verification, Driver-Passenger communication, trip notifications, and emergency safety protocols. Collection is necessary for the app to function as intended and to protect the safety of all Users.
Driver Application and Account Information

First and last name, social security number, mailing address, phone number, email address, driver's license information, recent photograph, vehicle information, and insurance information. Used for background checks, sexual offender registry checks, and identity verification. May include driver history, criminal record (where permitted by law), license status, known aliases, prior addresses, and right to work.

WHY PHONE NUMBER IS REQUIRED: A phone number is required for Driver accounts because it is used to: (1) verify Driver identity during the application process; (2) enable real-time communication with Passengers during active trips; (3) deliver trip requests, routing updates, and platform notifications; and (4) support emergency contact by law enforcement or Rides2U safety personnel if an incident occurs. A verified phone number is a non-negotiable safety and operational requirement for anyone providing transportation services on the Rides2U platform.

Required for legal and contractual obligations, regulatory compliance, core platform functionality, and to protect the safety of Passengers and the public. Phone number collection is necessary for the Driver role to function on the platform.
Account Holder Information Company name, title, first and last name, mailing address, company phone number, and email address. Required for legal and contractual obligations. Legitimate interest in communicating with Account Holders regarding Services.
Guest Users Name and phone number. The Driver will only have access to the Guest User's phone number until the ride is completed. Consent-based. Legitimate interest in enabling communication between parties and providing Services, including emergency use where necessary.
Student Ambassadors First and last name, school name, email address, and phone number. Legitimate interest in communicating with and understanding Student Ambassadors in relation to our Services.
Geolocation Information

PASSENGER LOCATION: Precise geolocation collected from the time a trip is requested through completion of the trip, using GPS, Wi-Fi, and/or cellular technology. Passenger location is not collected while the Rides2U app is in the background.

DRIVER LOCATION: Precise geolocation collected while the Driver is in "online" mode, whether the Rides2U app is in the foreground or background. This includes periods when the Driver switches to a navigation app (e.g., Google Maps or Apple Maps), receives a phone call, or moves the Rides2U app to the background while a trip is in progress or while available to receive trip requests. Background location collection is necessary to: (a) match Drivers to nearby Passengers; (b) display Driver progress to Passengers; and (c) accurately calculate fares and generate trip records. Driver location is not collected when the Driver is in "offline" mode.

Legitimate interest in providing trip functionality and tailored Services. Also used for receipt generation, customer support, fraud detection, insurance, safety, and analytics.
Push Notifications If you opt in, we collect your device push token and notification preferences to send trip status updates, booking confirmations, Driver arrival alerts, and promotional communications you have consented to receive. We do not share your push notification token with third parties for advertising purposes. You may opt out at any time through your device's notification settings or within the Rides2U App. Consent-based. Opting out of promotional notifications will not affect transactional notifications related to active trips.
App Tracking Transparency (iOS) On Apple iOS devices running iOS 14.5 or later, we request your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before engaging in any tracking of your activity across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes. If you grant permission, we may use your device's advertising identifier to deliver interest-based advertising and measure advertising effectiveness. If you decline or select "Ask App Not to Track," we will not use your data for cross-app tracking purposes. You may change your preference at any time in Settings > Privacy and Security. We honor all user tracking preferences set through the ATT framework and your iOS device settings. We will not attempt to circumvent your tracking permission choices.
Mobile Devices Unique identifying information broadcast from your device when using the Services. Legitimate interest in identifying unique visitors and understanding how users interact with the Services on mobile devices.

You can enable, disable, or delete cookies via your browser settings, though doing so may affect Service functionality. Legitimate interest in operating the Services efficiently and improving performance.
Cookies and Third Party Tracking We participate in behavior-based advertising. Third parties may use cookies, pixels, or similar technology to collect information about your use of the Services. We use Google Analytics to analyze site traffic and interactions. You may opt out of Google Analytics for display advertising by managing your privacy controls at Google's website. Legitimate interest in behavior-based advertising, analytics, and engaging third parties to assist with providing Services.
Website and Application Interactions IP addresses, preferences, pages visited prior to using the Services, browser type and version, operating system, internet service provider, unique device IDs, language settings, timestamps, clicks, scrolling, browsing times, searches, transactions, referral pages, load times, and errors encountered. Surveys Information you provide through surveys, which may be conducted by Rides2U or a third-party provider such as SurveyMonkey. Third-party survey providers are subject to their own privacy policies. Legitimate interest in understanding user opinions and collecting information relevant to improving the Services.
Employment If you apply for a position or become a W-9 contractor or employee, we collect information necessary to process your application or engagement, which may include your social security number. Providing this information is required for employment or contracting purposes. Required to fulfill our employment or contractor obligations and to comply with legal requirements.
Logs Browser type, operating system, IP address, domain name, click activity, referring website, and date/time stamp for visitors. Legitimate interest in monitoring network access and Service usage to provide and improve the Services.

2. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

Our Services are not designed for children under 13, and we do not intentionally or knowingly collect Personal Information from users under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us Personal Information, we will delete such information promptly. For all Account Holders, Passengers, and Guest Users between the ages of 13 and 17, parental authorization for all rides is required.

3. Information You Provide to Us

  • We collect Personal Information when you contact us or set up an account through the Services.

  • When you engage us for Services, our payment processor Stripe collects all information necessary to complete the transaction.

  • We may collect your name, email address, and referral information in connection with Driver and Student Ambassador referral programs.

  • If you contact us via email, we may collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.

  • Rides2U may use photographs submitted by Drivers, Passengers, or Guest Users to verify identity where voluntarily submitted or legally required.

  • Drivers may have dashcams installed in their vehicles. We do not require or control Driver use of dashcams, but Drivers may share dashcam footage with us. Drivers are responsible for any required disclosures regarding dashcam use under applicable law.

  • When you participate in a survey, we may collect any additional information you knowingly provide.

  • We maintain email communications in accordance with applicable federal law, including the CAN-SPAM Act. All emails from Rides2U will clearly identify the sender and include a clear unsubscribe mechanism.

3a. Why We Require a Phone Number at Sign-Up

Rides2U requires a verified phone number from all Passengers and Drivers at account creation. This requirement is not optional because phone number verification is essential to the safe and functional operation of the Rides2U platform. Specifically, a phone number is required to:

  • Verify your identity at account creation and prevent fraudulent or duplicate accounts on the platform.

  • Enable Driver-Passenger coordination for pickup, which is the primary core function of the Rides2U app. Without a verified phone number, the app cannot safely connect Drivers and Passengers.

  • Deliver SMS trip notifications, real-time booking confirmations, Driver arrival alerts, and status updates that are integral to the ride experience.

  • Support emergency contact protocols. In the event of an incident during a trip, law enforcement, emergency services, or Rides2U safety personnel may need to reach a User immediately. A verified phone number is a critical safety requirement for any transportation platform.

  • Enable two-factor authentication and account security verification to protect Users from unauthorized access.

Rides2U does not collect phone numbers for advertising purposes. Your phone number is used solely for the functional, safety, and operational purposes described above. The Driver will only have access to your phone number during an active trip, after which access is removed. All other contact between Drivers and Passengers takes place through Rides2U’s anonymized in-app communication system.

This requirement is consistent with industry standards for transportation network companies and is necessary to comply with applicable state transportation regulations that require verified contact information for all platform participants.

4. Information Collected via Technology

We track information provided by your browser or our software application when you view or use the Services, including the referring URL, browser type, device type, time and date of access, and other non-personally identifying information, using Cookies. We may use third party analytics services such as Google Analytics to collect information about how you use and interact with the Services.

IMPORTANT — DRIVER LOCATION DURING TRIPS

Location data collected by a Driver during a trip will be linked to the Passenger's account, even if the Passenger has not independently enabled location data collection on their own mobile device.

Our Website and App use social media connectors including buttons for Facebook, Yelp, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. We reserve the right to use technological equivalents of cookies, including social media pixels, in compliance with each platform’s policies. Social media third party providers may combine your information with other data they hold about you.

Some content or applications on the Services may be served by third parties, including advertisers, ad networks, content providers, and application providers. These third parties may use cookies, web beacons, SDKs, or other tracking technologies to collect information about you over time and across websites. We do not control these third party tracking technologies.

You may opt out of interest-based advertising from members of the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) at optout.aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) at optout.networkadvertising.org.

5. Information We Obtain From Other Sources

We may collect information about you from the following sources:

  • Indirectly from you, through observation of your actions and interactions with the Services.
